Here we show you 5 embedded help examples that you may not have considered.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mailchimp<\/em> is a brand that is famous for thinking outside the box. We found 5 great examples of embedded content in this web-based email marketing software. At least one of the examples goes beyond just providing help, which goes to show that not all contextual content is explicitly User Help.<\/p>\n<p>Any of these 5 embedded help examples could be used in your software and even added as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/en\/2020\/12\/21\/lets-get-personal-how-we-imagined-personalized-embedded-software-help-in-youtube\/\">contextual help<\/a>, appearing only when appropriate.<\/p>\n<h2>1. Solicit customer feedback<\/h2>\n<p>And here we have the first example of non-help. Rather than offering user help, <em>Mailchimp<\/em> is soliciting customer feedback to improve the embedded help in its software. This message inside <em>Mailchimp<\/em> is contextual in that it only appears based on some user parameter and doesn&#8217;t reappear once the user responds.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4125\" src=\"https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/embedded-feedback.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"476\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/embedded-feedback.png 476w, https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/embedded-feedback-300x127.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 476px) 100vw, 476px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>2. Help your customers succeed<\/h2>\n<p><em>Mailchimp<\/em> uses tips in a smart way. The Tip messages (also contextual based on user parameters) are more about helping customers reach overall business goals, not just software success. <em>Mailchimp<\/em> understands that when users are successful, they&#8217;ll become loyal customers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4127\" src=\"https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/embedded-tips.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"423\" height=\"89\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/embedded-tips.png 423w, https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/embedded-tips-300x63.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 423px) 100vw, 423px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In <em>Mailchimp<\/em>, you can manage API keys for integrating the service with other services you use, such as email signup forms on your website. In the API keys part of the UI, <em>Mailchimp<\/em> offers a link to an article about keeping API keys safe. It&#8217;s a creative use of embedded content that aims to help customers succeed.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4129\" src=\"https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/mailchimp-api-tip.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1070\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/mailchimp-api-tip.png 1070w, https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/mailchimp-api-tip-980x375.png 980w, https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/mailchimp-api-tip-480x183.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1070px, 100vw\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>3. Onboard with a gif<\/h2>\n<p>Embedded help is not only text-based. Images, video and <em>gifs<\/em> can be added to an embedded help popup. For new users, the help can be contextual in that it only appears on first login or after some other user parameter is met.<\/p>\n<p>In this onboarding example, <em>Mailchimp<\/em> uses a gif within a popup that suggests the user create an email from an image. Interestingly, the text in the embedded help doesn&#8217;t say you can also create an email from a <em>gif<\/em>, but the <em>gif<\/em> in the popup makes it obvious.<\/p>\n<p>Short <em>gifs<\/em> are also a good way to show a quick feature in software. Promote new features<\/h2>\n<p>Why limit new software features to release notes? Make it obvious to users that your software has new features by embedding it right into the software. When <em>Mailchimp<\/em> launched landing pages as a new feature, users got a popup showing the feature and including a link to try it out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4134\" src=\"https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/mailchimp-new-feature-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"393\" height=\"293\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/mailchimp-new-feature-2.png 393w, https:\/\/www.easydoccontents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/mailchimp-new-feature-2-300x224.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 393px) 100vw, 393px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>5. Link to next steps<\/h2>\n<p>Using embedded and contextual help, you can direct users to another part of the software when they need to complete another step.<\/p>\n<p>In this example, <em>Mailchimp<\/em> provides an option to embed GDPR fields (privacy options) into signup forms. In the screenshot below, the UI offers the option to add a custom width to the form. But in another part of the software UI, you decide what fields to include.
